Karachi security situation unsatisfactory: Wasan

Manzoor Wasan, says as many as 35 convicted criminals are currently out on parole in the city.

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons Manzoor Wasan has said that the situation in Karachi is unsatisfactory, reported Express News.

Speaking about the large number of prisoners out on parole, Wasan stated that the general protocol is to release criminals on parole for a period of only eight hours, but, as many as 35 parolees have been released for several years. He has demanded details on all the parolees released between 2003 and 2005.

Further, officers of the Department of Prisons have been ordered to implement the order from the Supreme Court in the suo moto Karachi violence case.

The minister added that following intelligence reports about possible attacks on prisons in Sindh, steps are being taken to increase security.
