PTI relief efforts: Imran visits flood victims in Jacobabad

SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan visited flood victims in Jacobabad on Tuesday, and strongly criticised the government ‘for doing nothing for them’.

Talking to flood victims at the Jacobabad Bypass, Imran declared that he was not there to ‘seek votes’, but rather his visit was aimed at mitigating the sufferings of the local population. The PTI chief added that if he came to power, he would ensure that taxpayers’ money was spent on the welfare of the people rather than going in ‘ministers’ pockets’.

Imran elaborated on his party manifesto, saying the party’s aim was to protect the rights of the people. He said that Sindh’s economy was in a shambles due to large scale corruption and that Jacobabad was turning into the ancient ruins of Moen Jo Daro due to ‘criminal negligence’.

The PTI chief added that he will not form an alliance with any party in the upcoming general elections.

Imran also criticised the ‘forcible conversion’ of Hindu girls and said that neither Islam nor the law of the land allowed for this. He also visited the city’s Krishan Gir Hindu temple. Earlier, Dr B H Khurana briefed him about the problems of the Hindu community in the area.

PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Nadir Akmal Leghari, Jehangir Tareen, Sharif Buledi, Tariq Unnar and others accompanied Imran to Jacobabad.

Later, talking to the media at Sukkur Airport, Imran Khan said the Naseerabad and Jafferabad districts of Balochistan were the worst-affected because of the monsoons but nobody bothered to visit these areas. He said that people in these areas were angry over the government’s apathy, since only the army was engaged in a rescue operation.

Khan, we are with you through thick and thin. We are heading in the right direction. Let the interest group leave the party and those who stand for the ideology will stay. Election in party is working before it started. Scum in the party is filtering out for the good of party future.
