KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has issued notice to Aero Asia airlines on a lawsuit seeking attachment of its properties, including recovery of dues owed to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The authority filed the lawsuit through its airport manager, Nasir Sheikh, stating that the airline owes it huge bills. In a letter dated June 13, 2000, the defendant was asked to pay arrears.

A six-day deadline was given to the company to clear its dues, but it offered to pay only 25 per cent in March 2011. The petitioner submitted that the dues outstanding since February 2000 had now accumulated to Rs 342.43 million. To recover the dues with 16 per cent mark-up, the CAA wants the court to order the seizure of airline’s properties. Justice Muhammad Tasnim ordered the issuance of notice to the defendant for September 21.
