Like elsewhere in country, the last Friday of Ramazan (Jummatul Wida) was observed with religious fervour across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Large congregations were held in the mosques throughout the state, where people offered prayers for integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country and liberation of Kashmir, Palestine and oppressed Muslims over the world.
While addressing the congregations, ulema and religious scholars prayed for security, stability and prosperity of Pakistan and AJK with emphasis on observing unity and solidarity among the nation to deal with the challenges facing the country.
Moreover, different religious parties held rallies in different parts of AJK after Jumma prayers to mark the last Friday of the holy month.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the area to maintain peace and order on the eve of Eid (Chand Raat). Heavy contingents of police have been deployed at various points in Mirpur city and other parts of the state to avert any eventuality on the eve of the religious festival Eidul Fitr, police sources said.
When contacted, Additional Superintendant of Police (ASP) Raja Irfan Salim said that on the directives of the AJK government, additional security staff has been deputed at all busy places including markets and mosques to maintain law and order situation.
The additional SP further said that the police force has been put on high alert to ensure that Muslims celebrate the Eidul Fitr with a sense of security.
