KARACHI: The inclusion of former captain Younus Khan for the remaining England tour will be the main agenda of the selectors’ meeting that will discuss the changes for the upcoming one-day series.  The meeting will feature the selection committee as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt.

A member of the selection committee has claimed that clearance for Younus will be sought from Butt for the One-Day Internationals that will follow the ongoing four-Test rubber against the hosts.

“We will definitely discuss possibility of Younus’ inclusion in the side, and this will be the main agenda of our meeting,” the selector told The Express Tribune saying the meeting is due to take place within the next few days.

The selection committee has been criticised following Pakistan’s huge back-to-back defeats against England, especially by former cricketers who have blamed selectors for overlooking Younus.

“We also wanted Younus for the England tour but people should realise that he was not cleared to play because of his suspension issue.”

Meanwhile, the selector added that only a few changes will be made in the side for the one-day series.  “You can expect only two to four changes in the squad for the one-dayers,” the selector said while adding that the inclusion of a wicket-keeper as cover for Kamran Akmal will also be discussed.

‘Butt showing leniency towards Younus’

Butt is now considering giving the green signal to the former captain, according to a PCB official, who said the chairman is likely to give the clearance to Younus.

“Things are not finalised yet but the PCB chief seems to have changed his stance towards Younus that is why the board is delaying sending the show-cause notice to him,” said the official.

PCB appointed judge Irfan Qadir, while clearing Younus from his indefinite ban, ordered a remand into his case for which the board has to send a new show-cause notice to the former captain.
