Three family members were accused of killing Riazabad village resident Bebai Mohammadani in 2011, but the woman is reportedly alive and asking for security protection.
Bebai filed a constitutional petition through her lawyer Athar Iqbal Shaikh. On Tuesday, the Sindh High Court’s Sukkur bench directed the DIG Sukkur and SSP Sukkur to provide protection to Bebai Mohammadani, whose life is under threat.
The court also ordered that notices be issued to the SSP Sukkur, SHO and ASI Salehpat police station to file their comments in the court on August 6.
In her statement, Bebai has said that in December 2011 a man named Bagh Ali Mahar allegedly kidnapped her and kept her hostage at an undisclosed location in Karachi.
According to Bebai, the accused Bagh Ali Mahar is an influential person and concocted a case against her father, brother and cousin - Abdul Sattar Mohammadani, Bhooral Mohammadani and Morro Mohammadani - using ASI Salehpat police station Dil Murad Bull. A false First Information Report (FIR) was filed accusing the men of her murder.
Bebai’s parents were also present in court. In their statements, they alleged that an ASI called Dil Murad had been bribed by Mahar into filing a fake case. However, their daughter had been kidnapped by Bagh Ali Mahar and kept in captivity. Her parents said that they had asked tribal elders to assist in recovering her, and after seven months their daughter was given back to them. Her parents alleged that Mahar is now threatening Bebai and so her life is in danger.
Justice Habibur Rehman Shaikh judge directed the DIG Sukkur and SSP Sukkur to provide protection to the woman and her parents.
According to the Salehpat police station, on December 14, 2011 FIR 116/2011 was filed under sections 302, 311, 204 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR named Abdul Sattar Mohammadani, his son Bhooral Mohammadani and nephew Morro Mohammadani and alleges that they killed Bebai Mohammadani after declaring her kari with Bagh Ali Mahar. The official said that Abdul Sattar Mohammadani was given bail by a court, her brother Bhooral Mohammadani was in jail and her cousin Morro Mohammadani is a fugitive from the law.

@Irtiza: You are living in Pakistan, not India. Pakistan is an Islamic republic. Still it is fault of others?
@Liberal: Yes Mr. Liberal, get your knowledge about islam right. it's not a islamic practice
@Liberal: it is not islamic practice. it is tribal tradition
@Liberal: Its not Islamic practice it is something that is prevailing in the society.
Karo-kari is the worst Islamic practice and shows how far we are from civilization. Why not government makes strict laws against this practice? And why the CJ is not taking action against it?
