LALAMUSA:

Defending the dual nationality bill, Information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that the bill was tabled for all those Pakistanis who live away from Pakistan but whose hearts beat for their country.

The proposed constitutional amendment aimed at allowing Pakistanis having dual nationality to hold public office was not meant to benefit any individual, he said.

Talking to media at the Lalamusa Press Club he said that parliament had the authority to amend the Constitution.

Regarding tensions with the US, he said that Washington has conveyed that it would not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan. Kaira said:  “Pakistan has been in dialogue with the US and Nato and we have made it clear that we are the solution and not the cause of problems.”

He said peace could not be established in the world without establishing peace in Afghanistan.

They are overseas because they wanted to work hard and honestly to make a living. They could be here in Pakistan for showing-up for political rallies or as one more burden on the failing economy.

But they sacrificed their peaceful life at home to struggle harder for the needs of their families e.g, tuition for kids, sister or daughter's marriage, father or brother's medical expenses, keeping the house or land from being taken away, to send younger brother or sister to medical college or to buy that business he or his brother wanted to have to be financially independent etc etc.
