Shahbaz Sharif asks doctors to end their strike

Says Punjab cabinet members have taken a 30% cut in their salaries but approved an increase in salaries of doctors.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has urged the doctors to take stock of their responsibility and end their strike for the sake of ailing humanity.

Talking to a delegation of doctors who met him at his Minar-e-Pakistan tent office, he said, Punjab government is spending billions of rupees on increasing the salaries of those who are associated with health sector. He pointed out that salaries of doctors in Punjab are much higher than the doctors of other provinces.

Shahbaz added that members of the provincial cabinet had agreed to a cut in their salaries by 30 per cent but have approved an increase in salaries of doctors.

The Chief Minister promised that legitimate demands of doctors would be accepted and instructions have been issued to the authorities concerned in this regard.

He said Punjab government has taken effective steps for provision of best medical facilities to the people of the province.
