Shootout: ‘Robbery suspect’ killed

BAHAWALPUR:


Ghala Mandi police have registered an FIR in Friday’s failed bank heist that left a suspect killed in shootout with security guards.


A guard was shot and injured in the gun battle.

The FIR stated that two of the three robbers that broke into Muslim Commercial Bank Ghala Mandi Branch in the afternoon managed to escape the scene.

The suspect shot by the guards, identified later as Muhammad Tariq, 23, died in the police van, before he was taken to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

The injured guard, Manzoor Ahmed, is under treatment at the hospital. BVH deputy medical superintendent has described his condition as out of danger.

The FIR registered on the complaint of the bank manager, Nasir Mehmood, mentions Sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 392 (Attempt to commit robbery) and 393 (Punishment for robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
