Punjab Assembly Melee: ‘Dare to speak against women in Sindh’

KARACHI:

The lawmakers were unanimous in condemning the attitude of PML-Q’s (Forward Block) MPA Sheikh Allauddin for using abusive language against female MPAs during a Punjab Assembly session.

“If he had talked against women in the Sindh Assembly, we would have taught him a lesson,” warned PPP’s Farheen Mughal on a point of order.

As she was speaking, another member stood up and started shouting “shame, shame” against the PML-Q’s MPA.

Mughal said that the Punjab Assembly speaker was also biased and instead of taking strict action against the MPA, barred the women from entering into the assembly. “We want to know why the Supreme Court is silent on this issue,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sindh Assembly acting speaker Shehla Raza announced that tomorrow’s (Saturday) session will be spared for ministers to debate on the budget, which will continue on Monday.
