KARACHI:
For the first 17 days of this month, Gulshan-e-Iqbal has topped the crime chart at the office of Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).
The highest number of cases of mobile and vehicle snatching took place here. According to the CPLC data, around 161 motorcycles and 156 mobile phones were snatched at gunpoint.
The highest number of mobile phones snatched in one day was 14, on June 10.
Around 68 cars were snatched at gunpoint from June 1 till June 17. The maximum number of cars to robbed in a single day was 10, on June 3. North Nazimabad came in second for most cases of car snatching with 30 cases reported, while Clifton was third with 22 cars robbed. The second-highest mobile-snatching cases were reported in Jamshed Town. About 97 phones were stolen at gunpoint. Meanwhile the snatching of motorcycles remained a popular crime as 920 were snatched from across the city. The total number of cars snatched from 1st to 17th June was 221.
