Rehman Malik, the prime minister’s adviser on interior affairs, announced the formation of the inquiry committee on Monday. Wahab died at the Orthopedic Medical Institute (OMI), a private hospital in Karachi, on Sunday.
The committee will be headed by the director general health and will comprise senior doctors. It will investigate whether there was any negligence on the part of the doctors treating Wahab, according to an official statement.
Regarding the terms of reference of the committee, a senior official of the interior ministry told The Express Tribune that the investigation will focus on the time Wahab spent at the OMI till her death.
The committee will investigate the complications that Wahab suffered following her primary gall bladder surgery, which led to internal bleeding, serious breathing problems and ultimately her death. It will also probe into the two additional surgeries which were performed on her to stem internal bleeding.
The team will also recommend a retirement age for surgeons and will also likely spell out guidelines for them on how to operate on a patient in a professional way. The committee will submit its report within two weeks.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided OMI and seized records of the hospital, reported Express News. The team also questioned three doctors who performed Wahab’s surgery and took them to the FIA headquarters for further investigation.

I am sure the proper investigation will result in proper handling. All information has to be taken into consideration before a judgement could be formed.
and when have these"committes" given us any result, seems to me its only for shutting the people up, we have never seen investigatory results of any case.
is any one of above connentators a doctor. I am 100% sure none. Please stop making idiotic remarks about doctors. They save lives. Things do not go always as planned. especially in surgical procedures. which in its self caries a huge risk to which the patient consents. Yes this is why we have CONSENTS. if you do not want it to be done then dont. Retarded politicians and an even more retarded populus. @jat i know Indian doctors too my friend plus doctors from almost everyother major country. everyone is human. similar complications could have happened even at Johns Hopkins.

Unfortunately medical negligence is a Worldwide phenomena now. Doctors these days, majority are so POORLY TRAINED!
If the doctors are blamed, VIPs watchout, they will refuse to treat you in future.

High rate of medical errors is Pakistan's dirty little secret. We have doctor factories (akin to diploma mills) all around the country, but hardly any quality control. Most of the doctors are below international standards.
If true, then PPP failed governance should also be blamed for this as its a spill over affect on the whole society. She always defended the failed governance of PPP which eventually took her life.

Yeah.....just becoz she was a 'someone'in the ruling party..............we got an investigation on the doctor's professional conduct. And without any doubt there have been innumberable deaths due to the carelessness, wrong medication and professional dishonesties of the doctors and we had nothing earlier. who will answer for the blood of innocent and poor patients of this country who still languish in hospital just waiting for someone to take good care of them.

Many people die everyday due to Malpractice of doctors in Pakistan. A committee is only formed when MNA from the ruling party dies.

The government formed an inquiry committee only when their own member dies from alleged negligence. Lot of the patients only died due to the negligence in government hospitals but our so-called government never really care.
The case should be investigated at length to determine as who should be held responsible for gross negligence.
Fauzai was a health woman until she was admitted at OMI Hospital for surgery.
In case if her death is due to negligence of doctors than they should be arrested and prosecuted according to the law of the land and the hospital should be asked to pay compensation to the deceased legal heirs.
Each death resulting from negligence need to be investigated, it requires a legal and institutional frameworks. All lives are precious, no matter who they are. Now the PPP regime will find a scapegoat, punish someone in haste and the live will move on, untill another powerful dies. If the government is serious in doing something about medical negligence, they need to make sure that it does not happen anywhere, enact laws, have a structure to deal with it.
1000's of CITIZENS of Pakistan are dying each year due to medical negligence. Are their lives any less important than Fauzia Wahab's.
