Lahore High Court: Plea to reserve Rs5b for Thar Coal project

The government had failed to provide funds for it, which can lead to the closure of the project: Advocate Gujjar.

LAHORE: A petition has been moved before the Lahore High Court seeking directions to the federal government to reserve Rs5 billion funds in the budget for the Thar Coal Project.

Advocate Chaudhry Maqsood Gujjar stated in his petition that Pakistan was facing an energy crisis, which has affected industrial and economic activities. The project was started to help the country overcome the energy shortage, he said, but the government had failed to provide funds for it, which can lead to the closure of the project.
