LAHORE:

Finding discrepancies in the statements of a woman, whose husband is in prison for her murder, the Lahore High Court summoned the Sangla Hill SHO along with the record of the investigation against the husband. Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi also summoned the woman’s father. The judge issued the orders after counsel for Shazia Bibi submitted that her husband was in jail for kidnapping, not her murder.

Shazia Bibi had told the appellate court on Monday that her husband had been convicted of murder.

Her counsel, on Tuesday, said that Shazia Bibi’s father had lodged an FIR against his son-in-law Nazeer Ahmed for kidnapping her and an additional district and sessions court had sentenced him to life after convicting him.

He described Shazia Bibi’s Monday statement as “a mistake”. Shazia Bibi had said on Monday that she had been kidnapped in 2006 and had recently managed to escape.
