Speakers at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s public rally on Tuesday demanded Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to immediately step down. The rally was organised to express support for the Supreme Court verdict in contempt of court case.
The rally was attended by over 4,000 people and several MNAs and MPAs from Bahawalpur division.
PML-N south Punjab president Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal Gujjar, MNAs Abid Sher Ali, Mian Baleeghur Rehman, Saud Majeed, Begum Parveen Masood Bhatti, Provincial minister for Prisons Malik Iqbal Channar and MPAs Haji Zulfiqar Ali, Jehanzeb Warran and Kazim Ali Pirzada spoke at the rally.
The speakers condemned the PPP government for bringing the country to the brink of disaster.
They said PML-N members would soon announce a schedule for resignations from their national and provincial assembly seats and for a long march against the government.
Gujjar expressed support for provincial status for Bahawalpur and said that language should not be the only criterion for creation of new provinces.
He said a national commission should be constituted to recommend how to go about making new provinces in the country.
