Higher education: UAF to start diploma in food safety

Post graduate diploma under the European Union funded Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) II Programme.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with the United Nation Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is all set to start a post graduate diploma in Food Safety and Control under the European Union funded Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) II Programme. This was announced on Wednesday in a meeting held between Dr Ian Goulding, the UNIDO international expert and Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, the UAF vice chancellor.


Dr Goulding also announced UNIDO’s plan to start a post graduate diploma in two other universities in the country. He said 25,000 euros will be provided for each diploma as financial assistance.

He said that his organisation was already working with the Horticulture Department and UAF in a project on mango and orange post-harvest practices. He said under the project, the UNIDO will train some 40 trainers. He said that the project was worth $50,000.
