LAHORE:

Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Muhammad Habibur Rehman on Thursday said a crack down against the top twenty proclaimed offenders of each district of the province was underway.

The IG was addressing the Police Darbar at Police Lines, Okara. He said people would feel secure only after the network of hardened criminals was broken. He said the prime responsibility of police officers was to fight criminals. He said he believed in aggressive policing and expected the same from all officers. He said it would be okay if criminals leave the province as a result.

Rehman hoped that the removal of corrupt and delinquent officials from the department would boost the morale of the honest officers. He said that anyone who tries to use political influence to thwart the police would be punished for it.
