LAHORE:

Sabzazar station house officer (SHO) was on Friday summoned by Additional District and Sessions Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Khan Marth for a hearing today.

The official was directed to bring along a copy of an FIR registered against 70 police officials, including him, for allegedly forcing their way into the house of a lawyer, beating him up and taking away his licensed weapons.
Advocate Malik Khalid Mehmood Khokhar, the petitioner, had requested that the CCPO be directed to register a case against the Sabzazar SHO and other police officials. He said on April 6 two police officials, who he believed were drunk, came to his house during his niece’s Henna celebration was going on and abused his security guard. He claimed that the officials forced their way into his house and called over other policemen. They then beat up his family and guests, the complainant says, and took away his licensed weapons.
According to Khokhar, he approached the CCPO and requested that a case be registered against the officials but the CCPO ignored his request. The judge had directed the petitioner, at the last hearing, to approach the SHO concerned and move an application for the registration of an FIR. The SHO was told to submit a copy of the FIR on April 13 (Friday).

On Friday Assistant Sub-Inspector Asghar Ali produced two FIRs – registered against Khokhar – in the court, one for violating the Marriage Act and the second for detaining policemen at his house and tearing their uniforms. The judge then ordered the SHO to appear on Saturday (today) and bring a copy of the FIR registered against 70 policemen.
