SUKKUR:

Scores of activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) and Sunni Tehreek held a protest demonstration at Ghanta Ghar Chowk in Sukkur on Sunday against the murder of a JUP leader, Maulana Mohammad Qasim Sasoli, in Quetta.

Sasoli was also the Khateeb of Jamia Masjid Noorani. He was on his way to lead Friday prayers when men shot him at Saryab Road on Friday.

The protest was led by the president of JUP’s Sindh chapter, Mufti Mohammad Ibrahim Qadri, and the president of Sindh chapter of ST, Mohammad Rizwan Qadri. The protesters gathered at the roundabout and shouted slogans against lawlessness, price hike, unemployment and the murders of religious leaders.

JUP’s Ibrahim Qadri said that the government had failed to arrest a single culprit responsible for target killings. He condemned the murder of Qasim Sasoli and called it an act of terrorism. He demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
