KARACHI:
A prominent personality from Turbat, Mir Imam Bizenjo, has been identified as the prime suspect in the Karachi murder of Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rehman Dashti.
The murder took place between 12am and 12:30 am on Tuesday at the home of Mir Imam Bizenjo in DHA Phase V. “We have an eyewitness who has confirmed that he was killed inside the home and not in the car,” said Clifton TPO SP Tariq Dharejo.
Bullet casings as well as traces of blood were found. “We know that he [Mir Imam] is responsible for the murder but this is a kingpin of a very big drug cartel so it will definitely take time to arrest him and he will be very hard to catch,” said Dharejo.
In May 2009, the US government issued a list of Significant Foreign Narcotics Traffickers who were appropriate for sanctions under the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (the “Kingpin Act”).
“Imam Bheel” from Pakistan was named on the list and Clifton SP Tariq Dharejo says that Mir Imam Bizenjo is the same person. The list itself gives many aliases and different birth dates for “Imam Bheel” but the only name that matches is that of Mir Yaqoob, Imam’s son, not Imam himself.
Dashti was in Karachi for official business according to Dharejo and was meeting Mir Imam at his home. The police say that at some point the meeting turned into a dispute and this is when Dashti was shot and his body was sent away to be disposed of by people working at the home.
Associates of Mir Imam had driven away to get rid of the body but somewhere along the way the car was abandoned on Khayaban-e-Tanzeem and the body was discovered in a black Toyota Corolla with a government license plate (GR-002). Those trying to get rid of the body have not been arrested.
Clifton SHO Amir Altaf sees a missing link in the case. According to him, Dashti and Bizenjo had been friends for 15 to 20 years and even their families are close. Dashti’s family lives in Karachi, according to Altaf. “They were like brothers. He wasn’t meeting Bizenjo on official business; he was there to see him as a friend as he always does when he is in Karachi,” Altaf said.
Dashti’s body was laid to rest in his ancestral town in Dasht near Turbat city amid presence of local tribal elders. And on Tuesday, there was a complete strike in Kech district.
According to relatives, the victim went to Karachi to visit family. “Dashti was invited by his friend Mir Imam Baksh, known as Imam Bheel, a well-known businessman in Kech, and the father of Yaqoob Bizinjo, where they developed a quarrel,” one of the relatives narrated quoting the driver Badal. “The DC left the house after an exchange of harsh words. However, he wanted to make up but upon reaching the house a man sprayed him with bullets.”

Dear Abas, Mr Abdul Rehman Dashti was a man honour and proud, Dashti knew him since long before he was in drug business, they were childhood friends that doesn't mean that they were in business as it has been reported in different news paper, in that matter he was in Karachi it is the duty of police to arrest him, in that matter all political leaders and rest of the notables of Makran meet him that doesn't mean all of them are in business with them. for the matter of his business he brought so many Irani people who are doing the business for him all of them are residing in Karachi defence area. I have personally shown all the areas where they are living freely but you better advice your police and government to catch all such people and think well before commenting on deceased DC. there is no one Imam living in these posh areas there are many more people doing buisness of drug and setting in the posh areas of Pakistan.
they were friends not business partner : mr Abbas and i know Late Abdul Rehman Dashti personally... he was a great man with great ambitions and thoughts. he is a great lost for Baloch and for the region of Makran and Balochistan. he served his people very politely... his lost is a historical lost for us....
