Judge awards death sentence to a murderer

Also imposes fine worth Rs200,000 to be paid to the heirs of the deceased.

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain on Wednesday awarded death sentence to an accused, for murdering a man who tried to settle a quarrel between him and his wife.  

The judge also imposed a fine worth Rs200,000, to be paid as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. In case of non-payment, the convict will be subjected to an additional six months of imprisonment.

The judge also awarded a five year sentence to the same convict under section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for seriously injuring his wife.

A FIR 399/2005 was registered against Abdur Rasheed alias Sheeda by Majeed Aslam in City Raiwind police station. According to the FIR, Rasheed had a fight with his wife Parveen Bibi in a room that was given to them on rent by Aslam and his deceased brother Muhammad Mansha.

Mansha, on hearing noises from the room, went to help but was fatally attacked by Rasheed with knives. Mansha later succumbed to the injuries.
