MIRPUR:

The spring tree plantation drive was Saturday commenced across Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) during which at least ten million saplings would be planted throughout the  territory, official sources said.

This was said by the state forest department spokesman on the eve of the tree plantation drive in Mirpur division. Sources said that the target of planting 10 million saplings across AJK during the campaign has been fixed. Over a million saplings will be planted in Mirpur division comprising Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher districts.

Efforts will be made to ensure that the maximum number of people participate in the tree plantation drive to make it a complete success and to protect the plants in future.

The AJK government has directed the forest department  to ensure the availability of saplings of various species free of cost in all government nurseries and sale points during the forthcoming spring tree plantation drive.
