The bail was granted by Judge Rao Sultan Tahir after he heared the petition against the accused executive engineer.

XEN Shahid Shaukat was arrested by the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) on February 9 on charges of abuse of powers. Shaukat, who had been in FIA’s custody for four days, was later sent to district jail on judicial remand.

Since his arrest Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited employees including the executive and managerial staff had been on strike and demanded his immediate release.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Shaukat said he had been punished for unearthing illegal gas connections.
