Shaikh Zayed hospital: Doctors meet today to discuss transfer to province

Senior professors and doctors of Shaikh Zayed Hospital will meet on Wednesday to discuss the institution’s transfer from the federal to the provincial government and how they should react.


Medical Teachers Association (MTA) General Secretary Dr Muzamil said on Tuesday that the doctors were opposed to the transfer. “The hospital was a gift, and gifts don’t get transferred from the federal government to the provincial government,” he said.

About the meeting, he said: “We will discuss the whole situation and wait for the notification, after which we will decide our future action.”Federal Minister for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan had announced earlier on Tuesday that control of the hospital would be transferred to the Punjab government.
