MIRPUR: The wetlands on the periphery of Mangla Dam in Mirpur district have witnessed a decreasing number of migratory birds this year. Even though thousands of birds from all over the world migrate to the wetlands in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, this time around, the number of birds has been considerably low due to multiple reasons. According to sources, the authorities have not weeded the wetlands properly. Even though the wildlife and fisheries department is committed to make the atmosphere conducive for birds, certain elements have encroached upon the land, creating hurdles in weeding. They also said that the encroachers have been cautioned against creating hurdles in weeding.
