FAISALABAD: The Allied Hospital on Wednesday sealed the entire stock of medicines sourced from a pharmaceutical company after an insect was spotted in a sealed vial.

A three member committee led by Associate Professor Dr Aamir Husain was formed to fix responsibility in the matter.

The committee has been assigned the task of determining how the medicine had passed the quality control and was approved for use at the emergency ward.

The insect was spotted by a nurse who was about to administer an injection using the drug to one Moman Javaid, a Toba Tek Singh resident. Javaid had been admitted to the hospital three days ago.

Medical Superintendent Dr Rashid Maqbool told The Tribune that he had notified the pharmaceutical company about the incident and requested an investigation at their end as well.

He said the inquiries led by the hospital administration and the company would help trace the elements at the hospital as well as at the company whose negligence had led to the medicine’s approval for use.

He said action would be taken against those found guilty.
