Meeting: Lawyers assured of police’s support

CCPO promises lawyers quick arrest of Warriach’s murderers.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Wednesday assured a delegation of lawyers that murderers of slain lawyer Nasurallah Warriach will be arrested.


The 19-member lawyers’ delegation called on the CCPO on Wednesday. He said the culprits would soon be brought before the court.

He also talked about the timely submission of challans of heinous crimes to the relevant courts and stressed the need for a merit based investigation. The CCPO extended full support of police to the lawyers’ community to speed up the process of disposal of cases.

Tahir said that the police committed to providing assistance to the legal community to ensure rule of law. He said that a daily review of the crime situation in the city was being carried out and effective steps were being taken to eliminate crime.

He also said that the judges and witnesses in terrorism cases were provided special protection under a counter terrorism strategy.

DIG (investigation) Ali Amir Malik, DIG (operations) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, SSP (investigation) Abdul Razzaq Cheema, SSP (discipline and inspection) Shariq Kamal, SSP (administration) Tariq Abbas Qureshi, SP (CIA) Umar Virk and Public Relations Director Rai Nazar Hayat were also present.
