Yellow Cab Scheme: 11 get brand new cabs

Delivery letters have also been sent to another 113 people in Bahawalnagar.

BAHAWALPUR:

A total of 11 people were given yellow cab taxis through a lucky draw on Wednesday morning.

According to district officials, 11 people received the keys to brand new cabs on Wednesday and another 113 have now gotten delivery letters.

A function was organised in the Zilla council hall in this regard.

“We have handed over several keys and dozens have received delivery letters. This is an amazing opportunity for people as they will now have a source of steady income,” said district coordination officer (DCO) Asim Iqbal.

Iqbal said that Bahawalnagar had a quota of 694 cars that would be distribute among winners of the draw.

The district verification council has verified the documents of 353 people who are eligible under the Chief Minister’s Yellow Cab scheme, he said.

The DCO said that the cars would provide a steady source of income for hundreds of families and that he was grateful to the chief minister for his project.

Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mian Fida Hussain said that most of the cabs were being provided to youths without any interest loans. “Hundreds have received training to maintain and drive the cabs. We hope this will improve the overall traffic situation,” he said.
