A petition was filed in the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court on Tuesday regarding a contempt notice issued against Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gilani in the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case.

Barrister Zafarullah argued in his petition that under Article 248-1 of the Constitution, the premier enjoyed the same immunity as the president.

The petition further stated that writing a letter to Swiss authorities was not the job of the prime minister.

It said that the court should have summoned the law secretary and
the law minister before calling the prime minister before it on Jan 19.
