Grand operation launched against drug addicts in Malir

Several drug addicts were rounded up during a grand operation carried out by police in various localities of Malir district on Wednesday.
The crackdown was launched on the directives of IG Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Dr Abdul Khaliq in areas including Shah Latif Town, Sharafi Goth and Sukhan.
A heavy police contingent took part in the operation and took several drug addicts into custody, shifting them to police stations where they were briefed on the harmful effects of drug abuse. Police stressed that the youth represent the country's future and warned that strict action would continue against drug peddlers.
They added that drug addiction not only destroys people but also affects entire families, urging citizens to support law enforcement efforts in eradicating the menace.
Later, several addicts were shifted to an Edhi rehabilitation centre under the supervision of SHOs Mumtaz Khan Marwat, Khalid Memon and Nasir Khan, to facilitate their recovery and reintegration into society.
Police appealed to the public to cooperate in the ongoing campaign against drug dealers and anti-social elements.
