KARACHI:

A Pakistan Ranger identified as Sipahi Madad Ali was killed while sub-inspector Siddiq was injured in an attempted robbery in Saddar on Thursday.

They were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi. According to a Rangers spokesperson, both men were dressed in civilian clothes and had gone shopping when two other men on a motorcycle intercepted them.

Ali and Siddiq tried to resist the robbery but were shot at by the unidentified men.

Pakistan Rangers’ Brigadier Waseem Ayub said that the attack was not related to the December 8 incident in which three Rangers men were killed and seven others were injured in a roadside blast.

He said that the men were not in their uniform when the incident took place. SSP South Naeem Sheikh said that an investigation was being carried out and a case was registered against the unidentified men at the Arambagh police station.
