Study abroad: EU signs deal with MUET for 101 students

HYDERABAD:


Nearly 101 students and faculty members from the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology will be going to study and work at seven universities in the European Union (EU) for up to two years.


This is part of the EU’s Erasmus Mundus programme which aims to provide higher education. They selected the MUET as a partner for their €1.98 million project.

The student and faculty members will be able to cover subjects like electrical engineering, information and communication technologies, photonics, biomedical engineering, computer engineering, power systems, energy, informatics, communication engineering and microwaves.

The application process for PhD candidates started on December 5 and will continue till January 12, 2012. The application dates for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates will be given out in 2012.

The scholarship covers airfare, health insurance, a participation subsidy, €1,500 per month stipend for students and €2,500 stipend for faculty members.
