Assassination: Afaq submits plea for FIR against MQM chief, workers

Ahmed alleges MQM chief Altaf Hussain released orders to assassinate him.

Express December 02, 2011

Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) Chief Afaq Ahmed on Friday submitted an application for the registration of a case, alleging that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain and members of the MQM coordination committee were conspiring to assassinate him.

Ahmed, who was recently detained under the Maintenance of Public Order, said in the application that on April 7, 2010, the day when his detention was expected to end, Hussain had released the orders for his assassination. Ahmed also alleged that for this purpose, three different teams were constituted.

However, the plot did not work because his incarceration was prolonged.

He also referred to the Joint Investigation Team report of Ajmal Pahari and said that it was prepared by six or seven intelligence and law enforcement agencies and confirmed the MQM’s plan to assassinate him.

Ahmed has plead in his application that an FIR should be lodged against Hussain, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Anees Qaim Khani and other MQM members.

The police have received the application to probe into the matter.
