UN closes offices in NWFP for two days

Express April 06, 2010

PESHAWAR:

The United Nations has closed all its offices in NWFP for two days. The closure follows yesterday's attack on the American consulate in Peshawar.

Meanwhile, a US investigation team arrived in Peshawar early this morning and collected the necessary evidence from the scene of blasts.

Security has been beefed up in the city, and the road leading to the US consulate has been closed.

Visitors coming to the government offices in the area are being thoroughly checked.

Militants attacked the US consulate with car bombs and grenades in an apparent attempt to storm the heavily fortified compound. The attack left eight people dead, including six militants and two security personnel.

The funeral prayers of the martyred: Mohammad Siad and Mohammad Riaz have been held in Charsada.
