KARACHI:

The body of a man, wrapped in a bedsheet with hands and feet tied, was recovered from a plastic drum at Muhammad Shah graveyard in North Karachi on Saturday.

According to police, the victim was identified as 45-year-old Ali Asghar. He was a father of seven children and associated with the second-hand cars business.

Police said the deceased had been kidnapped from an unknown location, subjected to torture, shot in the temple and later stuffed in a drum before being dumped in the cemetery in Bilal Colony.

A Chhipa spokesperson confirmed the identification.

Family members who reached the hospital told reporters that Asghar had left home on Friday night for dinner, saying he would return soon. However, he did not come back and his mobile phone was found switched off. They said his wife later received a message that he would be back shortly, but no further contact was made. The next morning, police informed them of the discovery of his body.

Police suspected that the killing was linked to a financial dispute, though the exact motive would be determined after investigation.
