Lahore police arrest ride-hailing driver for allegedly harassing woman
SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz says suspect harassed woman inside vehicle, slapped her and fled

Lahore police on Sunday arrested a ride-hailing driver for allegedly harassing and assaulting a woman inside his vehicle, SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz confirmed to The Express Tribune.
According to Nawaz, the suspect harassed the woman during the ride, later dropped her off, slapped her, and fled.
"Following directions from DIG Operations Lahore, a special task was assigned to SP Cantt to ensure the suspect’s arrest, after which a team was formed under his supervision," he said.
Nawaz added that SHO Sarwar Road, Rana Muhammad Irfan, traced the vehicle using modern technology within an hour and arrested the suspect along with the car.
"Sarwar Road Police carried out the operation and arrested the driver of the online taxi service, identified as Rizwan. A case had been registered against the suspect based on the complaint of the affected woman," he said.
SP Cantt commended SHO Irfan and the police team for their swift action, stating that those involved in violence and harassment against women and children would be brought to justice.

Earlier in December 2025, the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) directed online taxi services in Pakistan to prove compliance with the Workplace Act 2010 following multiple sexual harassment complaints against their drivers.
The action came after a complaint alleging harassment, inappropriate conduct and route diversion during a ride. FOSPAH said the seriousness of the allegations warrants a full review of internal mechanisms.
