Workers of Awami Tehrik including the party’s student and women wing staged a sit-in near Hatri at the National Highway. They chanted slogans against the opening of Chashma-Jelhum Link Canal and blocked the National Highway road.
Heavy contigents of police reached the spot to keep the situation under control.
Irsa reopened the Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal on July 15 following much controversy being sparked by a water sharing row between Sindh and Punjab.
