Caught: Man held on murder charges

Accused was held for allegedly killing Akhtar Nawaz, a resident of Bari Iman Mohallah Nori Bagh.

ISLAMABAD: The City police on Saturday arrested a man wanted in a murder case. According to the Secretariat police, Manzoor was held for allegedly killing Akhtar Nawaz, a resident of Bari Iman Mohallah Nori Bagh, following a harsh exchange of words over a monetary dispute earlier this month. They said Manzoor managed to escape from the scene following the incident after stealing Nawaz’s mobile phone and wrist watch to make the murder appear as a mugging incident. The police, however, traced Nawaz’s cell phone and eventually found Manzoor, who admitted to have killed Nawaz over a financial dispute during preliminary investigations. The police also recovered stolen items and a 30-bore pistol used for the murder.
