Thursday meeting: Cabinet to discuss PPSC appointments

Legislation on Ghazi University, Public Defender Service to be approved.

The provincial cabinet will discuss the law and policy on the appointment of members to the Punjab Public Service Commission when it meets on Thursday.


According to the agenda of the meeting, to be held at the Civil Secretariat and chaired by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, will also discuss the implementation of the National Finance Commission (NFC) award and evaluate the annual report of the Punjab Ombudsman for 2010.

Legislation related to Ghazi University, amendments to the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2002, the Punjab Motor Vehicles Transaction Act 2010 and the establishment of the Punjab Public Defender Service will be presented to the cabinet for approval. The cabinet is also expected to sanction the exclusion of police officials from the ambit of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006, since there are already police rules in place for disciplinary issues.

The Services and General Administration Department has informed all provincial ministers, advisors and administrative secretaries concerned to attend the meeting.
