Former NFL coach Mike Tomlin has revealed a sprawling Minecraft city he spent 12 years building, launching a new YouTube series to showcase the virtual world.

Tomlin, who coached the Pittsburgh Steelers for 19 seasons and now works as an NBC television analyst, shared the first episode of the series on his new YouTube channel.

The former coach said he first became interested in Minecraft through his children but continued playing after they lost interest in the game. He described Minecraft as a therapeutic escape from the pressures of coaching.

His world features a large waterfront city with luxury apartments, a hotel and spa, a basement speakeasy, an aquarium-themed hotel and a baseball stadium.

Tomlin explained that he initially wanted to focus on concentrated urban living before expanding the world to include single-family homes and suburban neighbourhoods.

The Minecraft city is set to be explored across multiple episodes, with Tomlin planning to showcase additional areas of the world. He has also teased a soccer stadium as one of the features that will appear in future episodes.

The scale of Tomlin's Minecraft project has drawn attention online. A post on X suggested that it could take around 2,000 hours of gameplay to create a world of comparable size.

According to the New York Post, Tomlin's son Mayce said his father would sometimes take his gaming console without telling him so he could continue working on the community.
