Ben Hardy set to star in Amazon’s 'Stillwater' horror thriller

Ben Hardy will lead Amazon’s 'Stillwater', an eight-episode horror thriller based on the Skybound graphic novel

Ben Hardy has been cast in the lead role of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series adaptation of the graphic novel Stillwater.

The one-hour horror thriller is based on the Skybound graphic novel created by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez. Amazon ordered eight episodes of the series in July.

Hardy will play Daniel West, an ex-con who receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance. The message leads him to the small town of Stillwater, where he discovers a community with unusual rules: its residents do not age, no one dies and nobody can leave.

The series is being developed as a mind-bending horror thriller, with Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray serving as writers and executive producers. The pair co-wrote the pilot episode.

Berlanti and Wray said they had been fans of Hardy’s work and were pleased to cast him as Daniel, noting that the character requires both toughness and emotional depth.

Hardy is known for his film roles in The Conjuring: Last Rites, Bohemian Rhapsody, 6 Underground, Only the Brave and X-Men: Apocalypse. His television credits include The Girl Before, The Woman in White and EastEnders.

The Stillwater series is being produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Berlanti Productions executives Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Robbie Rogers are also attached to the project.

Additional executive producers include Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs, Glenn Geller and Zdarsky for Skybound Entertainment, along with Jonathan Gabay.

The Amazon Prime Video series will expand the world of the Stillwater graphic novel while bringing Hardy into the central role of Daniel West.
