Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken James Cameron’s Titanic at the worldwide box office, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of all time.

The Marvel Studios film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, reached the milestone during its fourth weekend in cinemas.

Brand New Day earned another $39 million domestically and $109 million globally, taking its worldwide total beyond $2.2 billion.

The result moved the latest Spider-Man film above Titanic on the all-time worldwide rankings. Cameron’s 1997 film has remained among cinema’s biggest earners for decades, with theatrical re-releases contributing to its long-running box office total.

Brand New Day has also passed several other major milestones during its theatrical run. The film has become Sony’s highest-grossing release, surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home and its $1.9 billion worldwide total.

In North America, the film recently moved ahead of Avengers: Endgame to become the second-highest-grossing film on the domestic all-time chart.

Brand New Day is now targeting Ne Zha 2, which occupies the next position on the worldwide rankings with approximately $2.27 billion. The difference between the two films is reportedly around $50 million.

The Spider-Man sequel remains behind Avatar: The Way of Water in third place, Avengers: Endgame in second and Cameron’s Avatar at the top of the worldwide rankings with approximately $2.9 billion, including re-releases.
