6,669 candidates sit KU entry test for 1,402 seats
Attendance reaches 96.1% as test is held across 20 centres for 2027 admissions

KARACHI:
As many as 6,669 candidates appeared in the University of Karachi's entry test for admissions to 20 disciplines under its 2027 morning programme on Sunday, with the university reporting an attendance rate of 96.1%.
The test, held at 20 examination centres across various departments from 11am, covered admissions to 1,402 seats, including the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) morning and evening programmes.
KU Director of Admissions Prof Dr Saima Akhtar said 7,265 candidates had submitted admission forms for the available seats. Of these, 270 remained absent, while 23 applications were cancelled because the candidates had either failed their intermediate examinations or submitted incomplete forms. She said 303 candidates had applied for both Pharm-D and bachelor's programmes. They were issued admit cards only for the Pharm-D test, but their results would also be considered for admission to the bachelor's programmes for which they had applied.
Akhtar said the results would be uploaded to the university's website and candidates' online portals.
She added that the Karachi University Assessment and Testing Service (KUATS) had been conducting entry tests for the past eight years without any reported paper leak or related untoward incident. The service's procedures and arrangements were being continuously improved, she said.
KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Waseem Qazi, accompanied by Registrar Prof Dr Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, visited various departments and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements.
The deans of the university's faculties also inspected examination centres with their teams and reviewed the arrangements. The university provided buses at all entrance gates to transport candidates to examination centres and back, while security personnel were deployed at entry points and around faculty buildings.
Medical officers, healthcare staff and an ambulance were also available to deal with emergencies.
The media briefing was attended by KUATS member Prof Dr Anila Amber Malik, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dean Prof Dr Samina Saeed, Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Dean Prof Dr Zaima Israr Mohiuddin and other officials.
