KARACHI:

A major illegal water supply network was busted in New Karachi on Tuesday during a joint operation by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) and police, with officials recovering eight electric motors, five submersible pumps and other equipment used in water theft.

Acting on directives from KWSC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, police personnel, carried out a raid in Sector 5/G of New Karachi, where an unauthorised system had allegedly been set up to siphon off water intended for residents.

During the operation, officials recovered and seized eight electric motors, five submersible pumps, plastic piping, welding plates and other equipment allegedly used in the theft of water.
