KMC begins workon Rs1b Nishtar Road-Garden flyover
.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has initiated steps to construct a flyover at Nishtar Road and Garden Chowrangi at an estimated cost of Rs1 billion, Mayor Murtaza Wahab said on Wednesday.
The proposed flyover will connect the Lyari Expressway with Garden Road and Nishtar Road, creating a faster traffic corridor aimed at easing congestion at the busy intersection and improving access to the Old City Area and major commercial centres.
Wahab made the announcement while chairing a high-level meeting of the KMC Engineering Department at the municipal headquarters. He directed the relevant departments to complete technical and administrative requirements and expedite the tendering process to enable construction to begin at the earliest.
The project has been targeted for completion within a year, although the final timeline will be determined after the contract is awarded, KMC Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffer told the meeting.
The flyover is expected to improve traffic flow between Garden, Nishtar Road, Saddar, the Old City and adjoining commercial and residential areas. It is also aimed at reducing pressure on existing routes used by thousands of commuters and traders every day.
Wahab said the project was part of a broader strategy to improve Karachi's traffic infrastructure and connectivity.
