A new Toy Story 5 clip has revealed the return of Emily and offered the first glimpse of a never-before-seen character, as Pixar prepares to expand the beloved animated franchise with its latest sequel.

The upcoming Disney–Pixar film, directed by Andrew Stanton, continues the “Toys vs. Tech” storyline, where classic toys including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of Bonnie’s room face competition from modern digital gadgets. The new installment introduces high-tech characters such as a tablet named Lilypad and an interactive potty-training toy called Smarty Pants, alongside fresh additions to the franchise.

The recently released clip also confirms the return of Emily, Jessie’s original owner, who was previously only shown in silhouette during the emotional “When She Loved Me” sequence in Toy Story 2. In Toy Story 5, Emily is seen in full for the first time, offering a deeper look at her relationship with Jessie before she outgrew her childhood toy.

Jessie, now the leader of Bonnie’s room following Woody’s departure in Toy Story 4, takes a central role in the new story as she tries to keep the toys relevant in a world increasingly dominated by screens and technology. The film appears to draw emotional parallels between Emily’s teenage disinterest in Jessie and Bonnie’s shifting attention toward digital entertainment.

To heighten the emotional stakes, reports suggest Taylor Swift has contributed an original song titled I Knew It, I Knew You, echoing the franchise’s legacy of heartfelt storytelling.

Toy Story 5 is scheduled for theatrical release on June 19, 2026, with anticipation building around whether the film will open the door to further sequels.
