Two killed, 7 injured in separate road crashes

Two persons were killed and at least seven others, including three women and a foreign national, were injured in two separate road accidents on Sunday, police and rescue officials said.
In the first incident, a high-speed collision between two vehicles on Khayaban-e-Bahr in DHA Phase VI within Darakhshan police limits, resulted in the death of a man and injuries to five others.
Police said the accident occurred when two speeding cars collided, leaving 40-year-old Shehzad dead on the spot. The injured were shifted to JPMC) via Edhi and Chhipa ambulances.
The injured included 22-year-old Bilal, 25-year-old Aini, 20-year-old Alishba, 45-year-old Maxim, a foreign national believed to be associated with the Russian Consulate, and an unidentified 35-year-old man. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash.
PS Darakhshan SHO Rashid Ali said preliminary findings suggested that the vehicle carrying the consulate employee may have hit the other car, adding that CCTV footage was being obtained to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Rescue officials said the deceased, Shehzad, was a driver by profession and a resident of Gizri. He was reportedly ferrying passengers from Khadda Market towards Shahbaz Commercial at the time of the accident.
In a second incident, a van overturned and crashed into a roadside pole near Lyari Expressway within the limits of Pak Colony police station, killing one person and injuring two others.
Police said the accident occurred when the vehicle lost control while attempting to save a motorcyclist and struck the pole.
As a result, 25-year-old Tufail died on the spot, while two others - identified as 25-year-old Junaid and 35-year-old Iftikhar - sustained injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital.
PS Pak Colony SHO Faisal Gul said the deceased was the driver of the vehicle. He added that further investigation was underway and efforts were being made to determine the identities and residential details of those involved.
