Niall Horan has addressed speculation about a possible One Direction reunion after several former members began releasing music around the same time in 2026.

Fans recently noticed that Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall were all preparing new projects and tours this year, leading to online theories that the former bandmates had coordinated their comeback plans behind the scenes.

Speaking on the And the Writer Is podcast, Niall explained that the timing was not intentionally planned. He admitted that some of the music announcements surprised him, although he had heard a few unreleased songs from Louis beforehand.

“The first couple were a shock,” Niall shared. “I remember speaking to Louis about it. I had heard a couple of his things that he was doing.”

The singer also revealed that he and his former bandmates rarely discuss release schedules or industry plans when they talk. Instead, their conversations are usually centered around shared memories and life outside music.

“We don’t really talk about music too much because we more talk about the memories and that kind of stuff,” he explained. “We don’t have a music industry-style relationship.”

Niall added that while he had some idea Harry was also working on new material, he “didn’t really know too much” overall about the others’ upcoming releases.

The interview arrives as Niall prepares for the release of his fourth solo album, Dinner Party, which is scheduled to drop on June 5.
