Amazon Prime Video’s “Off Campus” has emerged as one of the biggest streaming successes of 2026 after setting a new Rotten Tomatoes score record among romance television series released over the past year.

According to rankings highlighted by Forbes contributor Paul Tassi, the hit romance drama currently holds a 96% critic score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, giving it a combined score of 186 — the highest total for any romance-focused series released within the last year.

The series narrowly surpassed HBO Max’s hockey romance drama “Heated Rivalry,” which earned a combined score of 185. Other notable titles on the list included Netflix’s “Forever,” Apple TV+’s “Platonic” season 2, and Amazon’s “Overcompensating.”

“Off Campus” has gained widespread attention online for its blend of romance, humour, emotional storytelling, and college drama. Many viewers have compared the show to earlier fan-favourite series such as “The O.C.” and “Gilmore Girls” due to its character-driven storytelling and nostalgic tone.

Beyond the romance category, “Off Campus” also ranks among Amazon Prime Video’s top-performing shows overall in combined critic and audience ratings. Only “Fallout” season 2 and “Invincible” season 4 currently hold higher overall totals on the platform.

The strong reception has further boosted anticipation for season 2, which has already been officially renewed. The show’s success highlights the growing popularity of romance-driven streaming series, particularly among younger audiences seeking emotionally focused storytelling.

The impressive Rotten Tomatoes scores have also solidified “Off Campus” as one of Amazon’s breakout television hits of the year.
