Netflix drops first teaser for ‘East of Eden’ ahead of Fall 2026 release
Netflix unveils first teaser and confirms Fall 2026 release for East of Eden starring Florence Pugh in lead role

Netflix has officially confirmed that its highly anticipated limited series adaptation of East of Eden will premiere in Fall 2026, alongside the release of a new teaser trailer and promotional poster.
The seven-episode drama is based on John Steinbeck’s classic 1952 novel and is being developed by Zoe Kazan, who serves as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner. The project also carries a personal connection for Kazan, whose grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the acclaimed 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean.
The upcoming adaptation will reportedly retell the Trask family saga primarily through the perspective of Cathy Ames, portrayed by Florence Pugh. Pugh also serves as an executive producer on the series. The actress leads a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Ciarán Hinds and Martha Plimpton.
Production on the series wrapped in New Zealand after an extensive shoot, with the project now in post-production ahead of its release next year. Directing duties were split between Garth Davis and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre.
Netflix unveiled the first teaser during its 2026 Upfronts presentation in New York, giving audiences an early glimpse at the darker and more emotional tone of the adaptation. The streaming platform is expected to announce an official premiere date closer to launch.
